For the the last few weeks I'm finally finishing the parts of my game that needs to be done with before the end of the school year and exams. I've been slacking a bit by working on other projects that I've been working on for other teachers but I've been pacing myself to work on multiple things at once getting to things that are really important. for the summer since I might need to in the future is continue to practice with my coding on c++ so I can keep it fresh in my mind and see all the new updates that come out for unity when ever I want to bring a group together to make a game bringing ideas and possibly getting suggestions from others who may be interested and while I'm at it, work on some 2D and 3D Animation so I can have somethings to keep me occupied for the while until school starts back up next year.

Duelyst is a CCG (Card Collecting Game.) created by Counterplay Games and had the help of being publish with my number favorite gaming company called Bandai Namco who also helped produce previous games in the past for other gaming studios. So the whole premise of the game is that you are in a 9x5 arena with two general one being you vs the other player you're up against. Both player start out with 25 health and 2 damage General from a faction they play as there are six faction in total:
-Lyonar -Abyssian -Magmar -Vanar -Vetruvian -songhai
Duelyst has been updating on a regular bases from when it came out originally having two generals for each faction now having three generals having requirements for each one to unlock and so forth. In Duelyst you can make up to any deck you feel like with the desired faction you want to use with the option of putting in another type of faction called Neutral cards, each of the cards has a cost to each of them some being from 0 cost all the way up the 9 depending on what the card says otherwise it will need more.
To win a game you need to summon minions from your deck or utilize spell cards to beat the enemy general you go up against in matches and to also bring up this game is also a strategy game. so it will need a be a lot of thinking involved in this game. not only do you go up against player weekly the game releases a new boss to test the skills of players seeing if they have what it takes to beat a boss when they are being overwhelmed. I really enjoy playing this game I managed to get a couple of other friends to join in on this game and I'm sure you guys can play to I'll put a link to the games website and this game can also be downloaded on steam so pick your poison and join me on the competitive stand point of Duelyst. Summary: -Duelyst is a free to play game where you collect cards to make the strongest deck to beat anyone you come across in matches -Duelyst has a really developed lore for players to read if they are ever interested in the six factions shown in game Lyonar, Vanar, Songhai, Vetruvian, Abyssian, Magmar.

For this week I've been completely working on my game after the constant amount of sleepless night of fixing the several numbers of tutorials I redid countless times. This time I'm focusing on my game and how I plan on making it work out as a Pick em' up type game. I've been trying out different things like the environmental area, restriction to avoid people cheating their way through the game to get up higher inside of the game. I've been working on models for the game like Collectibles, Building, and other models currently in the process of being made. I've looked through many tutorials dealing with coding shaders in unity. Since I want to know how to make my own shades style inside of certain group games I may plan to create in the remote future.
Summary: I'm working on my game after an extended period of time. I've made general progress to what I've done so far with it gradually becoming closer to get my game done. Links to the playlist that helped with coding shaders: -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKWQn2Ppk74&list=PLLH3mUGkfFCWHABIk1I_VWEwdcXO5Gura -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJxxXjoZE30&list=PLV4HCa5XqFT02gZOZ_Jb_A66wqDhZMCkN -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00qMZlacZQo&list=PLfSHeBx8nh77ibNOdvhOvaaOVRgtwV6v3 As for these few weeks we have been working on tutorial on how to make 3d styled games going from: Roll a ball, Space shooter, Survival shooter, and making terrain. As we further progressed through out the week I have been struggling to consistently work on these tutorial as we are getting closer to exams and getting lots and lots of project to do to and studying for finals that are drastically approaching, I have been attempting to finish these games as I keep running into problems causing more stress and leading me to not really want to do the tutorials anymore. My teacher has been constantly encouraging me to hurry up and do that the tutorials so I would not be left behind and I can move on further down my path in game design. Times moves on further and I'm still doing the tutorials as I am still struggling to complete them and as he encourages me to complete them I've grown irritated of this as I still could not complete them and that I have 5 other assignment to complete at the same time, so I get to working on them again this week up until this weekend once again I
From last month up to this week, we had a lot of work to do in unity such as; following the tutorial, making sure that the games didn't have weird bugs in the code, and trying to get towards our independent projects as fast as we can. Currently, I'm still on one of the other tutorials since it was acting very strange not allowing me to complete the progress I made so far with it. While working on that I have been slowly pulling all-nighters.
For the past week we've been working with audio editing on a adobe product called Adobe Audition. We've been taking VO's and Music for the audio edits, so far some of us have done two while others have done all three assignments, I so far have gotten two done I just need to get the third and final one done which is the Audio Novel having me read a quote from a novel or reading a short script with my voice, I'll probably put my voice acting skills to the test since it's been a while and maybe will upload it to this blog for all of you to hear.
For this past week I've been working with my team on making a game that involves with figuring out stop location for the city Durham. How we started this project off was by being split up into groups of three people some groups have four, some have three, but other than that each group member is assigned a role; Team manager, 2D Artist, 3D modeler, Narrative manager, sound manager, and level design all of these roles are very important to use if one wants to make a game. knowing my comfort zone and what role I've decided to go for would be 2D Artist, but due to some trusting issues for my group I had to be the narrative manager since some people had problem with one person being the other role.
From the beginning of the project it was a tough time starting out, so far we've managed to get somewhat far with our work, one of us got to finish the 3D modeling they had to do, another managed to get the music we needed to go ahead and put inside of the game, and me I drew most of the art me needed for the game; I drew the character sketch, the light Rail we needed, the storyboard that was necessary for the game, currently working on the GDD and working more on the logo for our team and game. And to tell the truth I don't think we'll be able to finish the working level on time but I do know that we'll manage to be able to get something done on time for our group effort grade and interdependent grades. Hyper summery
So... this year I've learned a lot about what the extension of being/becoming a game designer is all about all of the activities and blogs that we have done up until now has showed me what It was like to grow as a upcoming game designer the road was; hard, breathtaking, and annoying but the journey was well walked for this year learning all the history of games, meeting and learning about other experienced game designers from other companies like Epic games, Blizzard, [etc], and learning about how the unity software earlier than expected were pretty much all a great experiences for this year and hopefully be able to get a greater experience for next year in AGAD (if I manage to make it in there at least) but blogging about this class was really fun (somewhat fun just trying to at least not forget so I don't get a terrible grade ) to do considering I want to do this later in the future, making games will be pretty fun and I wish to carry that experience with kids in later generations as well.
Okay, so... Unreal Engine 4 from what I have seen so far of it looks pretty cool if I say so myself, and also to top all of this off, from looking at the tutorials for the UE4 software gaming engine from what it looks like it will be very UI usage heavy. Meaning by this is of course is that in UE4 it would seem that the main interface will be used more frequently than having to go in the coding section of the gaming engine and while your inside of this engine there is another thing in this engine that is new to me and probably to you also for this engine you'll be using these things called blueprints I know what your going to say " Jon we already know what a blueprint is...." but hear me, okay? these blueprint aren't just your normal "follow this instruction here" Its also examples of what you can do inside of the engine for what ever type of game you want to make in the near future for ex: shooter, plat-former, Racing, [etc...] So here the question lies would I switch over to UE4 rather than continuing on forth with the Unity gaming engine? or say forget UE4 and stay on unity? To tell you the honest truth I really don't know so far both game engines are both interesting in their own way but if I would choose to go to UE4 It would mean having to start off on a new slate, and having to learn a whole new software and UI... which I wouldn't mind doing really. So I'd be down to see all the cool things that UE4 can really do at it's true potential. So would I switch to it for next year? Yeah, it will be a tough ride, but that's what makes the experience fun
